| How
to Check Error Messages (PC Version: Windows/Mac OS) |
If you are unable to use MT4 due
to a version problem, an error message will be displayed in the following
locations:
1. Bottom Right of MT4 Screen: “Old version” will be displayed to the
right of the antenna mark (this may be displayed alternately with other error
messages). 2. Operation History in the Terminal: The message field will
display: LiveUpdate: old version, try to download new
one or 'XXXXXXX': connect failed [old version] |
If the problem is due to a
version issue, an error message will be displayed in the following
location:
Operation History in the Terminal: In the message field of the
"Operation history," a message including "old version"
will be displayed, such as: deleted due to old version
If you are using the latest version, the message "you are using the
latest version" will be displayed. If this message does not appear, you
are using an older version. |

to Do if Error Appears |
If the above error messages are
displayed and MT4 cannot be used, please try updating using one of the
following methods.
1. Reinstall the Latest Version
- You can overwrite the latest version by reinstalling it from the website.
MT4 download page here
- If you changed the save destination when installing MT4, please specify
the same save destination so that it will be overwritten.
2. Update via Run as Administrator (Windows PC)
- Close MT4, right-click on the desktop icon, and select "Run as
administrator." Automatic updates will be performed within a few minutes
after launching. |
If the above message is
displayed and you cannot use MT5, please try updating using one of the
following methods.
1. Reinstall the Latest Version
- You can overwrite the latest version by reinstalling it from the website.
MT5 download page here
- If you changed the save destination when installing MT5, please specify
the same save destination so that it will be overwritten.
2. Update via Run as Administrator (Windows PC)
- Close MT5, right-click on the desktop icon, and select "Run as

app. If you are having problems using the app without a notification, please
check the latest version from the respective store and try updating if a

You can also check the version
you are currently using:
- For PC: Click "Help" "About..." from the menu at the
top of the screen. The version will be written in the lower left corner of
the pop-up that appears.
- For Android: Tap the "three lines" in the upper left corner of
the screen and check under the MetaTrader4 logo in "About".
- For iPhone: Tap "Settings" in the lower right corner of the
screen and check under the MetaTrader4 logo in "Settings" at the
bottom. |
